RAMBHA ON BAY
Rambha a Name of a Town situated at the southern end of the Chilika Lake. Rambha is famous as the bay riches with a number of Islands and its enchanting panoramic beauty. Rambha was best the picnic ground of Britishers during their rule. You can find many islands popping out of vast stretch of blue water and each Island has got some story to tell. It will be an excellent memory of your visiting history if you do visit Chilika and its sites of Island trip as each island has got some uniqueness. There is a Panthaniwas at Rambha run by OTDC. You can visit many places from Rambha Stay and can gather many memorable pleasant trips with help of local community boatmen as experienced guides.

How to Reach: Rambha is on National High Way NH-5 and with a Rail Way Station of East Coast Railways, Hence It is well-connected in all weathers. The National High Way is connecting Calcutta to Chennai, in Orissa it is Bhubaneswar to Berhampur, if you have selecting to visit by road you can find Buses towards Berhampur from Bhubaneswar any time and can reach with in 2hours of Journey. All Express Trains have no stoppage there so select Trains if you are traveling by train, where, you can have very charming view of Chilika on the way to Rambha.

BECON ISLAND:


It is Located at about 3.0 KMs away from Rambha OTDC Bungalow. You can find an architectural marvel there that a conical pillar and a small room has constructed on a submerged mass of rock near Ghantasila hill. The Place has unique panoramic charm can hunt you to be inclined towards nature. Mr. Snodgrass, the then Collector of Ganjam under the East India Company has built that for his office work with recreation. The pillar was constructed to put a light on the top. The water spread around the Beacon Island is very charming, surrounded by the mountain ranges of eastern ghat.


BREAKFAST ISLAND


This Island is located near Rambha Bay between Badakuda means Big Island and Somolo Island. It is a pear shaped island. It is also known as "Sankuda Island” means Little Island. The remnants of a decade bungalow constructed by the king of Kalikote still exist on this island. Mr. Snodgrass the then Collector of Ganjam used to occupy frequently this Bungalow. The island was full of greenery and place of attraction to visit and to do his office work in a peaceful and charming environment. The flora fauna of the island is very much interesting as a number of rare plants are still found on this Island.

HONEYMOON ISLAND

It is also located near Rambha Bay near the Sankuda Island. It is 5 K.M. away from Rambha Jetty. It is otherwise known as "Badkuda Island”. Britishers were used this island for picnicking. The waters body around the island is very clear and a luxuriant bed of red and green macro algae grow on the bed. One limbless lizard was found here which was an endemic species from this island was named after this Island.

SOMOLO AND DUMKUDI
Situated in the central and Southern sectors of the lagoon, these islands are swamped remnants of the Eastern Ghats. Though rocky, they are rich in flora and fauna. Dolphins are often sighted on the peripheral waters of Somolo Island. A scenic and unique backdrop to Somolo is the Khalikote hill range.

BIRDS' ISLAND
It is situated in the southern sector of Chilika. This is a hillock with huge exposed hanging rocks. The Local people called as “Chadhei Haga Pahad “It is 4 KMs away from Rambha Tourist Bungalow, and 1 Km away on the Eastern side of the Ghantasila hill. The island is covered with herbs, shrubs, trees and creepers. The granite rocks are the remnants of Eastern Ghats. Some of the huge rocks are painted white because of the folic acid from the droppings of the Birds. Some residential birds use the island as perching ground. During winter season, the migratory birds are sighted here. It is known for its rich algal communities and few mangrove species.

PARIKUD
Parikud, A group of composite islands constitute the Garh Krishnaprasad Block and are ideal spots for nature lovers, during the winter season it becomes an avian grandeur. You can find Govt. Lunch Services of Inland Water Transport Dept. from Balugaon to visit Parikud. It will be about 25 K.M. from Balugaon by water. Or you can hire any motorboat of local people to visit any where in Chilika. Parikud has already been connected from Prayagi, Chatrapur, and Ganjam in road.

Satakosia Gorge of River Mahanadi of Orissa , See the wildfull nature at a close distance where the civilization has not reached to make a blending.



Satokosia gorge, where the nature in its prehistoric wild disposition houses all the phenomena including flora and fauna is a rare place. For, it remains untouched by the lust of civilization.
If the wild animals including Sambar, barking deer and wild boar have made the sanctuary their home, leopards and Royal Bengal Tigers follow the area in their unique style.
Up in the forest near Barmul lies a cave where a 16-feet King Cobra leads a majestic life with his family. The site of the snake king slithering from a tree trunk and drinking from the gorge below where crystal clear water gushes through would send a chill down the spine of any adventurer.
The calmnessof the nature is broken at times by the sweet chirping of rare birds like Horn bills, Fishing Eagles, Crested Serpent Eagles, Racket-tailed Drango, Hill Hyenas (Sunakani an Rupakani) while one can see the rare flying squirrels, Malabar giant squirrels and reptiles like Star Tortoise, King Cobra, , the sanctuary has a water tank, salt lick and fodder style grass, Napier grass and orchard. full protection is provided to wild animals who visit the centre?
There are also tree-top manchans and a cottage for the tourists to view to movement wild animals at night. The part of the Sanctuary situated on Rocket Python, Monitor Lizard, Gharial and Mugar Crocodile. Sitalpani is a spot atop a hill where ice cold water is available throughout the year. It also has the costliest timber species—Rosewood.
Satkosia can be approached from Chhamundia, a 30-Km drove form Gania in Nayagarh district and 120 Km form Bhubaneswar . At Badmul near Chhamundia, the Mahanadi Wildlife Division has constructed an observatory where one gets a panoramic view of the spectacular gorge and the Amazonian expense of the Mahanadi . Eight Km form Badmul lies Kuturi, where the Habitat development for natural breeding centre for animals is located.
Established by the divisionthe northern part of the Mahanadi , includes Mahanadi Reserve Forests (RF) of Nayagarh district and Nandagadu PRF of Boudh District.
Rich in flora and fauna borders the Mahanadi river along the Satkosia gorge which also includes the Gharial Chrocodile Sanctuary. of Tikerpara. A stay in Tikerpara and cruise along the 25 km long gorge with beautiful forests on either side is a a memorable experience.

Rare birds like Hornbills, Fishing eagles, Crested serpent eagles, Racket-tailed Drongo, rare flying squirrels, malabar gaint squirrels, reptiles like Star tortoise, King cobra, Rock python, Monitor lizard, Gharial and Mugar crocodile, tiger, leopard, striped hyena, wild dog or dhole, Indian wolf, sloth bear, sambar, chital, barking deer, mouse deer, chousingha, nilgai, wild pig, gaur, elephant, gharial, mugger, chameleon, terrapins ,poisonous and non-poisonous snakes .One can almost touch the Boda fish and Car fish weighing upto 30 kg, during boat ride

Kuturi
Kuturi is a famous place of Nayagarh district is renowned for its natural beauty with lovely picnic spots under cool mango groves and other shady trees by the side of hillocks and the Satakosia Gorge of Mighty River Mahanadi create Panoramic Picturesque carved out of the high hills, You can imagine, the nature has created such zoological park where animals move in their natural habitat with peaceful spots surrounded by indigenous both decorative and medicinal plants. A Habitat development for natural breeding centre for animals is located as a part of sanctuary is established at Kuturi. The sanctuary has a water tank, salt lick and fodder style grass, Napier grass and orchard. Full protection is provided to wild animals who visit the centre?


Kuturi, is about 8 K. M. s away from Baramul, and 16 K.M. s from Chaamudia Village from where the Satakosia Gorge has started, about 46 K. M. s away from Gania in West and 136 K.M. s from Bhubaneswar. Up to Gania you can find transportation facilities but after Gania in the route of Barmul or Kuturi there is no communication facility other than your own arrangement. The Road is Jeep able and other small wheeled vehicle or Heavy Vehicles will not be suitable for visit.

How to Reach Nuapada is western most district of Odisha and it is about 535 K.M from Bhubaneswar via Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh. You Can find Private or Government Buses to reach Nuapada and from Nuapada , you can hire a Taxi to reach the spot.


Air: Nearest Airport Rajpur of Chhatishgarh 130-Kms



Bhubaneswar the state capital of Orissa - 535-kms.
There is an airstrip at Gotma 7-kms and 4-kms respectively from Nuapada and Khariar Road.Rail: Nearest railhead is at Nuapada Road 3-kms on Vizag-Raipur Route on East Coast Railway. Road: Nuapada is connected with all weather motorable roads to Bhubaneswar, Orissa and Raipur, Chhatishgarh and various other cities of the state NH 217.
From Nuapada it is around 18 KM away towards Dharambandha.
